transformer

First conceived in August 2006, Transformer is an on-going project bringing together artists and experts in diverse fields. Lisa Peachey and Ellie Reid studied together at the Slade School of Art, graduating in 2006, and were honoured recipients of the Clare Winsten Award. Through conversation begun during their period of study, they became increasingly interested in the cross-over of their practices, which converged on the idea of matter and the materiality of art. Through wider research and an awareness of contemporary practice, it seemed important for the curators to devise a project which explored these concerns, and their wider implications and influences.

Lisa Peachey studied at De Montfort University (BA) and Slade School of Art (MA). She has been included in exhibitions and events such as the Jerwood Drawing Prize, Postgraduate Printmaking in London, and dayofdamagedgoods at the Whitechapel Gallery. She will be included in London/Centrum exhibition in Seattle Art Museum in 2008. Her work is held by Ernst and Young, Lift NHS and several private collections.

Ellie Reid studied both her BA and MA at the Slade School of Art. Her extensive exhibition history includes MFA International (Tel Aviv), Club (Poitiers, France) and Addressing the Century at the Hayward Gallery. She has a solo show at La Caja Blanca in Palma, Mallorca, in November 2007. Amongst several awards, she was a recipient of the Boise Scholarship for Travel 2000. She currently lectures in Fine Art Practice.

Lisa and Ellie's next curatorial project will be 'Phase Space: Process & Possibility' at the Brunswick Gallery Space, 12-25 October 2007. For more details, go to www.phasespace.info
