Transformer investigates a new movement within current practice that is engaging with the inherent structures of material. Fifteen artists have been chosen who are deconstructing or reconfiguring material in order not only to acknowledge formal concerns, but also to transcend them. Through this elevation of material, can the act of looking, or gazing at, be replaced by active experience?
